This is the real life story of a girl who became a wife and mother and who is trying to seize everyday living under God's grace and by embracing this verse... "fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:10

Surprise, It's your Birthday
My mom and I share March as our birthday month. Now that we all live so far apart, it is hard to get everybody together twice in one month to celebrate 2 different birthdays. So while my mom thought everyone was coming home to celebrate my birthday, we planned a little surprise.
My dad didn't even know that we were going to surprise her at dinner with presents, cupcakes, and a crown!
Until next time...

Paint Par-tay!
My friend, Julie, organized a paint party to help me ring 31. All my friends gathered at BYOBrush Studios to paint an oyster shell. It was so much fun, and I was especially happy to see Katie Tupy there. We even had a cake pops!!
Until next time..

3.0 glad to see you go
I am going to post several blog posts, today. If these come to your inbox, I apologize.
March 4, I happily said good-bye to thirty and welcomed thirty-one. If you have not turned 30, yet, and you are wondering what it is going to be like, let me tell you it is true what they say!! Things start to go downhill. Just for funsies, here are some examples:
1. I lost 2 toenails and almost lost a pinkie fingernail.
2. I ran a 5K (a little under trained, I will admit) and about a week afterwards, I get this strange pain in my hip that is so awful I can't even walk down the hall. I just lay in the floor and cry. Wes stares.
3. Sitting on the couch one night, I notice my hand is hurting in the joint below my thumb and right above my wrists. The pain keeps getting worse and worse until I can't even touch my thumb to my index finger. I sit on the couch and cry. Wes tells me to go to bed. In the morning, I am fine! WTH!?!?!?
4. All of sudden, I can't remember things, I am not organized, and I don't care half as much as I used to. (Maybe this is good!)
Well, anyway, that is the short list of why I was happy to see 3.0, go!
Wes planned a wonderful day for me to welcome in 3.1 in New Orleans. We at Muriel's. They serve contemporary Creole cuisine. I ordered the special. After the waiter left our table, I said to Wes, "I have no idea what I just ordered, something about a puppy and a turtle." He assured me that I would not be eating a smaller of Beaux. And sure enough, I dined on a fine fish called a puppy drum and ate turtle soup which was very tasty. I highly recommend this restaurant the next time you are in New Orleans.
After eating, we shopped for hats for the Kentucky Derby. (Yep, I am going to that next month!) Then filled ourselves with candy and candied apples. We took a carriage ride around Quarter which was very informative and entertaining. Now, I have a long list of new places I want to visit on our next trip. We considered eating a beignet, but decided we were too sugared up, already. It was great day.
Thank you, Wes!

I am a Band Director's Wife
Found this entry on another blog and thought I would share. The author was writing about being a coach's wife, but it rings so true for the wives of band directors, too.
I am a Band Directors Wife
I am a Band Director'S Wife. I am married to the band coach. He is best kind of coach, teacher, musician, fill in the blank, the kind that you want to coach your child, the kind that is there for all of the right reasons, the kind that would give his own life to save the life of one of his band kids. I move often, my closet is a sea of colors from every school that we have been at. We have been Tigers twice, a Whippet, a Tornando, a Raider, and now we are Admirals. I cheer along with the cheerleaders for the football team and I cheer for the band. I don't have a kid on the team, the sidelines, or in a band uniform but in my heart they are all mine. I care for them as I hope to care for my own one day, their victories are my victories and their heartbreaks I share.
I am a band Director's wife. I can change colors over night and cheer on a different group of boys and girls from Fall to Fall. I give up my husband and my life for 5 months so that he can be a mentor to a child. He misses birthdays and anniversary's, party's and get together's, we eat apart all but one night a week and on Friday nights I come home to an empty house. We have been broke, we have been poor, we have lived apart for months, we have given our last dollar to a child in need, we have celebrated and laughed, we have hugged and cried. We are a WE and WE are a coaching family.
And tonight as I watch my husband warm up his boys and girls and help carry them to a victory you will not find anyone more proud in the stands then me. Because it does not matter to me if we win or lose, in my heart its how WE played during the game and at halftime.
“WE are just riding the train. Someday they are going to ask us all to get off. Owners, coaches, players and there are going to be new owners, new coaches, and new players. We should not be bitter about that because the experience of being on that train was so great.” ~Bill Parcells

Orpheus
Monday afternoon, Wes and I took a trip to New Orleans for some Mardi Gras fun!
Until next time...
XOXOXOX
Harry Connick, Jr., Wes' fave!
I may or may not have lost my mind screaming her name!
I may or may not have almost been run over by this float!
The important things are that she heard me, she looked at me, and Cyndi Lauper threw a long strand of gold beads right to me! Pretty sure this is going to make the top 10 of 2012!
Until next time...
XOXOXOX
